Cookie policy

The short version
We use one essential cookie to remember your cookie choice. We don't load advertising cookies until you accept them. We don't use analytics cookies at all - our analytics is cookie-free.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. They let sites remember things between visits - whether you're logged in, what's in your basket, what your preferences are. Cookies themselves are neutral; the question is what they're used for.
Cookies we use
Essential: cookie consent
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
energycosting_consent | Remembers your cookie choice (accept or reject) so we don't keep asking on every page | 12 months |
This cookie is essential. Without it, we'd show you the consent banner on every page load - the cookie itself is what makes "don't ask me again" possible. It contains nothing but your choice.
Optional: advertising
We display Google AdSense advertising. AdSense uses cookies to measure ad performance and (with your consent) to show personalised ads.
These cookies only load if you accept them. If you reject, we still show ads, but they will not be personalised and Google will not use cookies to track you across other sites.
Specific AdSense cookies (set by Google, not us): __gads, __gpi, NID, and others. See Google's cookie types page for the full list.
Cookies we don't use
- Google Analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly alternative that doesn't use cookies.
- Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, etc: we don't use any social media tracking.
- Session/login cookies: we don't require accounts.
- Shopping/cart cookies: we don't sell anything.
- Third-party advertising networks beyond AdSense: we don't use them.
Changing your choice
You can change your cookie choice any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. This will reopen the consent banner so you can accept or reject advertising cookies.
You can also delete cookies directly in your browser. Search for "clear cookies in [your browser name]" for instructions. If you delete the consent cookie, the banner will reappear next visit.
Browser-level controls
Modern browsers let you block cookies entirely or block third-party cookies (which is what advertising cookies usually are). Some browsers (Brave, Firefox) block tracking cookies by default. We support these choices - blocking cookies in your browser will not break anything on this site.
